Nigerians have plunged into darkness following another collapse of the national power grid on Wednesday, making it 12th time in 2024.
INFORMATION NIGERIA reports that the latest incident happened around 2.09 pm, causing huge setback in the power sector.
Since January 2024 until date, the grid has collapsed 11 times.
Within one week in October, the grid collapsed three times.
Confirming the development on Wednesday, the Nigeria National Grid, via its X page, disclosed that efforts are being put together to fix it.
The statement reads: “The major grid setback has occurred and the restoration is to commence.”

Also, the Jos Disco confirmed the collapse, in a statement, saying: “The current outage being experienced within our franchise States is a result of loss of power supply from the national grid.”
Ibadan Electricity Distributing Company, via its Facebook page also wrote: “Kindly note that a system disturbance occurred at 13:32hrs today, Wednesday, 11th December, 2024, resulting in power outages across our franchise area(Oyo, Ibadan, Ogun, Kwara and Osun regions).
“We are working closely with our value chain partners to ensure speedy restoration of power supply.
“We sincerely regret the inconvenience caused by this distribution and appreciate your understanding in this matter.”
